Pocket Smalltalk is an implementation of the Smalltalk-80 programming language for small devices. Pocket Smalltalk allows developers to create small applications using the full power of the Smalltalk library and development tools. Pocket Smalltalk is free and Open Source. We provide source for all components of the tool. There are no runtime libraries necessary once an application is created. Pocket Smalltalk can create applications for different platforms. Currently there is support for the entire line of Palm OS devices. There is a GEOS edition that allows applications for the Nokia 9110 Communicator series of machines. We will, at some point, add support for the creation of Win CE and Pocket PC applications. The IDE now runs on many platforms, including Windows, Linux, OS/2 and others. There a two different forms of the IDE. One which is fixed and cannot be modified, which provides the capability to write, debug and create applications for different platforms. The other form is one where the IDE can be extended and modified to suit your needs. The IDE is itself written in Squeak, another Smalltalk dialect.
